NIC District Computer Centre, Department of Information Technology, GULBARGA. National Informatics Centre (NIC), is a premier Information Technology organization in India which is committed to providing state-of-the-art, solutions for the IT needs of the Government at all levels. NIC carries the distinction of being the largest IT Organization in the Country and has set up a satellite based nationwide computer communication network and through 2MBPS leased line, called NICNET, with over 1400 nodes connecting the National Capital, the State Capitals and the District Headquarters to one another. The IT services of NIC range from Consultancy, Software Design & Development, Office Automation and Networking Services to Training, Video Conferencing and Internet Services including Web Site Development and Hosting. NIC has a nationwide presence, with its offices spread all across the Country, from Leh to Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Gulbarga NIC District Computer Centre was set up in 1988 and was located at Zillapanchayat Office premise. ZP building is 3 KMS away from the Bus-stand and 1.5 KMS away form the DC Office. NIC District Centre is providing IT Services to the District Administration by computerizing various activities of DC Office, Zilla Panchayat. Major Projects developed / implemented by NIC District Computer Centre, Gulbarga NREGA: NIC is playing a major role in implementation of NREGA software in all the 220 Gram Panchayats of the District covering all 7 Taluks. Periodical Trainings were conducted 2-3 times to all the Computer Operators, Gram Panchayat Secretaries, Executive Officers and other concerned staff on the software. It is online software which can be accessed under http://nrega.nic.in website. District Website : NIC has developed a District Web site and Zilla Panchayat Web site for which content has been provided by both Dist Administration and Zilla Panchayat. The website address is http://gulbarga.nic.in 2 Mbps LAN: NIC has set-up a Local Area Network covering all the sections of ZP Office where in more than 30 nodes/clients have been interconnected and 2 Mpbs leased line and VSAT connectivity has been extended. NIC is set-up with 34 Mbps Link which works as Intranic for accessing other NIC Centres across the state. Bhoomi:All the RTC's are computerised using Bhoomi Software & are fully operational in 10 tahasildar offices covering nearly 8 Lakh RTCs. Kiosks have been set up for issue of on-line RTCs to farmers. Transactions on all the land records carried out using Bhoomi software VA Recruitment: The on-line VA recruitment was successfully computerized by NIC Gulbarga for 2010 and the same is continued for 2011 also and all the necessary support has been extended to District Administration. Panchatantra – is developed by NIC jointly with RDPR which is a double accounting system covering all the details of Gram Panchayats. It has been implemented for all the 220 Gram Panchayats of the district. Necessary training has been conducted to Panchayat Development Officers/Operators/Eos and others staff of Zilla Panchayat. Elections : IT support has been extended in computerising Election activities for DC Office for all the recent Parliamentary, Assembly & GP Elections which includes randomization and deployment of Polling Staff, Counting staff, EVM M/cs etc as per EC guidelines. Results tabulation and dissemination during counting and support to Media is carried out with necessary IT support by NIC to District Administration. ZP Projects : Main projects like MMR, Samanya Mahithi Database, BPL survey Database, Annual Budget Draft Plan, Appendix-B Salary Budget Estimates have been computerised for Zilla Panchayat which have been extensively being used by ZP. CET Counselling : Admissions to Professional Courses like Engineering and Medical Colleges is being done through counseling processing and the same extended to Gulbarga from the last 2 years. The software has been provided by NIC, Bangalore and counseling process is held at Sri PDA College of Engineering every year with the full support from the College Administration. Student Internet World - This event is being conducted as part of BangaloreIT.in event since 2005 at Gulbarga. More than 100 computers were installed in 2004 and 2005 at District Stadium and University with LAN and internet facilities which was attended by nearly 10,000 students of class 8th to 10th from rural areas. Free transportation and food arrangements were provided by District Administration.The same event was held from 2007-2010 at Sri. PDA and Sri. Appa Colleges of Engineering where in more than 400 computers were used for giving live internet exposure to students. The event was organised by District Administration and NIC co-ordinated all the needful arrangements for making the event a success in all the 3 years. Now the event has been extended to all the taluks from the last 2 years. Training : Regular training, Internet & E-mail support to various departments coming under ZP & DC Office. NIC is actively supporting the District Administration and Zilla Panchayat in computerising various activities. RTO : Gulbarga RTO office has been fully computerized with the technical support of NIC. CTO: Commercial Taxes departments have been computerized with VAT software developed by NIC Bangalore and technical support is extended for the same by District Unit. The VAT Soft is fully online. LPO : Less Paper Office software has been implemented in major departments like Commissioner of Public Instrucitons, DC Office Yadgir and HKADB Office for which technical Support is extended. HC Circuit Bench : The computerization of HC Circuit bench has been done with the Technical Support of NIC and Leased line with Internet facilties are extended to High Court Circuit Bench from NIC. Daily Cause lists are available on the website both for Hon’ble High Court and District Courts. Other Activities : NIC has given full technical support for set-up of Internet / E-mail facilities in many important events like Cabinet Meetings, VIP visits which is done as per the directions of District Administration. Internet and E-mail facilities are extended to all the sections of Zilla Panchayat by NIC. The online software for Suvarna Bhoomi Project has been computerized and necessary beneficiaries details are uploaded by the department on their web site. Other important web sites for HKADB, Commissioner for Public Instructions, Gulbarga has been hosted on NIC Karnataka Server. The technical support is extended to the concerned departments for VPN connectivity and web hosting. The websites are http://hkadb.kar.nic.in and http://cpigulbarga.kar.nic.in Bhagyalakshmi scheme of the Women & Child Development Department has been computerized (online) for which necessary support is extended to the department. VC facilities: NIC has been providing the Video Conferencing facilities to Zilla Panchayat and District Administrations at ZP VC Room and NIC District Centre which also includes RTI Cases as well.
